The Webb Ellis Cup visited Montevideo in the days leading up to the RWC2019 qualifier match with Canada and provided an opportunity for children to participate in rugby activities.

In the lead-up to Uruguay's Rugby World Cup 2019 qualifier victory over Canada on Saturday 3rd February, the Webb Ellis Cup journeyed across Montevideo and stopped at Playa Ramirez where Get Into Rugby activities were organised by the URU with the support from the Sports Secretariat of the Municipality of Montevideo and Municipality E.

The day at Playa Ramirez, named Fan Fest, was attended by approximately 200 boys and girls who were given opportunities to engage in various rugby games and to have their picture taken with the Trophy. Most of the children were unaware of rugby and had never carried a rugby ball before. Happiness was palpable among children, parents and friends, crowned by a great victory that allows Uruguay to compete in Japan in 2019.
